Over 30 years ago I fell in love with clay. Wanting to do something creative but knowing I did not have the patience or talent for drawing or painting, I took a pottery class. Little did I know the impact it would have on my life.

After struggling through the pinch, coil and slab pots I wondered if I’d made a mistake and art was just not destined to be part of my life. But my view of art and form changed when I was able to finally sit at the wheel. I found I was easily able to center the clay and had a natural feel for the clay. The ability to have something flow upward into a useable item gave the immediate gratification my personality needed.

I had plans to pursue pottery but circumstances changed my life. I spent the next 30 years being a wife, mother and career woman. I have no regrets and would not change a thing. All of the life experiences along the way have enriched and broadened me. I carried, from house to house, my little portable electric wheel with my tools and unfired pieces. Parts of my dream that I would never let go.

Much had changed in the clay world during my time away from it, including me. I have had the good fortune to find an excellent mentor who has the knowledge, skills and teaching ability to help me achieve my goal of one day being recognized as an excellent craftsman.

No matter how many pieces I have created each one carries a piece of my own personal creativity. I am constantly creating new ideas and exploring new techniques as I continue my journey of expressing myself through clay.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and I hope you enjoy taking a look at my pottery as much as I enjoy making it.
