Dishwasher use:
All of my pottery can be cleaned in the dishwasher but be aware that the
abrasive action of most dishwasher soaps will eventually start to
cause some wear and remove the shine. I normally wash my bowls that I absolutely
love by hand although occasionally they still go into the dishwasher.
Oven use:
Taking your pottery straight from the freezer or refrigerator to a hot oven
can cause it to break. It is best to allow it to come to room temperature if possible
and put it in a cold oven. Let it heat up with the oven. Slow heating is best.
Microwave use:
All of my food-safe pottery can be used in a microwave. You should be aware that any pottery, even porcelain, will
still have a slight absorption rate. If you leave your pottery sitting in water for long periods of time just realize it might
have absorbed a slight amount of water. If you find handles on mugs or the bowls becoming unreasonably hot compared to the contents
chances are your pottery piece has absorbed some moisture. I would suggest never using that piece in the microwave again. The heating
of the moisture in the clay can cause burns or failure of the pottery piece. I have pieces I still use but I just never put them in the
microwave.
Raku care:
Matte glaze such as Copper Flash use a soft brush or rinse with distilled water. Do
not place in direct sunlight.
Smooth glazes such as White Crackle rinse with distilled water and immediately
dry with a soft cloth.
Raku pottery is very porous and should not be used to hold liquid. If you
want to use as a vase for flowers please place a glass container inside first.
